Photographer's Note
A view, very early in the morning, of Ankor wat, teh most famous edifice in the Ankor complex. It is quite impressive and one of the world' most famous sights. Ankor Wat was built for the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple. The initial temple was Hindu in design and direction, and later became a Buddhist temple.
It is worth getting to the temple at 5am for the sunrise, then heading through the jungle through the vast lost city before the tropical heat kicks in by lunchtime. Who am I kidding? It was hot at 5am even!

Silhouettes, may it be buildings of gold, may it be the human kind of flesh... My endless "obsession" (i guess i finally found an obsession for myself)
...And i want it to be hot at even 5 AM. From a 2 degrees Celcius Istanbul with best wishes for 2012.
ps: i find the border a bit thick (sorry, i couldn't help)

Hello Justin
A simple and different image of a complex and amazing structure. It is a pity that the scaffolding and tarpaulins of the ongoing restoration process can be seen here. Tfs, Marlene

Hi Justin,
I can see another excellent idea among your latest photos. The silhouettes in the place. I haven't seen such photo from this famous place. There are plenty of colorful photos from Ankor and your photo is different, a black and white one, a fresh one ! Yes, that's a fresh look at this popular tourist destination.
By the way, have you seen your photo upside down ? It looks interesting as well.
Cheers,
Mirek

Hi Justin,
Some of us cop out of posting shots of too-touristy locations; others show us a side of that site or location we have never seen before.
This is a stunning piece of B&W work which forces the viewer to look at a very familiar scene with completely new eyes. Great work, thank you, Iain
