Photographer's Note

This is one of the few temples of the Angkor Wat complex that was built of brick instead of stone. Originally the five temples would have each had a tall spire for the roof. You can get some idea of this from the center temple. These may have been consructed with a wood framework which over the centuries had been consumed by termites and a tropical environment. This site has undergone extensive clean-up and restoration work in recent years.
