This is Cambodia—country of child labor and child trafficking.
Due to the poverty, many Cambodian children don't go to school. They are either subjected to child trafficking to serve sex industry, or victims of landmines, or joint their family workforce.
I photographed this girl as she camped over the ricefield near Tonle Sap Great Lake with her parent and siblings, to harvest floating rice. This area has been flooded and the lake expanded its banks in September or early October that kept population far away from the fields. As a result, during March, as they harvest, they don't want to waste time going back and forth. Instead, they set camps right on the fields and stay several days and nights, until the grains are ready to be transported home.

Riveting image of this girl, captured well in your photo. The composition is wonderful, but I think the color and sharpness could be improved. Your note was very informative and moving.
