| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This shot was from a series of doorways at the small temple Banteay Srei, which lies just outside the Angkor Complex. It's somewhat "cartoon-like" in this shot, and the woman's shirt adds just a touch of color... This is also my One-Year post; number 365. What an adventure it's been!
Banteay Srei, or the "Citadel of the Women," lies just outside the Angkor complex. It is sometimes known as the hot pink temple because of the bright (almost orange) color of the stone. It's interesting that it was referred to as feminine in nature and perhaps by design by the official who commissioned it, because it certainly has a very feminine aura about it; it's intricately carved and is distinctively light and airy, making it quite unique. It it is also in "miniature" compared to many of the other temples within the complex. The carvings are much deeper and more detailed than other temples as well, and many of them are very well preserved. They almost appear as sculptures strategically placed because many are carved almost in the round, which is quite remarkable. |

Hi terez
this is an interesting perspective with the tilt on the first door. Banteay Srei is a beautifull place.
