[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
An inscription in the brightly colored stone at Banteay Srei, also known as the "Citadel of the Women." It is sometimes known as the hot pink temple because of the bright (almost orange) color of the stone. It's interesting that it was named for women, perhaps by the official who commissioned it, because it certainly has a very feminine aura about it; it's intricately carved and is also "miniature" compared to many of the other temples within the complex. The carvings are much deeper and more detailed than other temples as well, and many of them are very well preserved. The inscriptions are mostly religious texts written in Sanskrit.
