The Bayon temple in Angkor is one of the most impressive ruins in the huge lost city. All over the architectural masterpiece, the metre high faces of the Bodhisattva Avalokhiteshvara can be found. Rumor has it that the king's face was model for the stone faces.

I like this 'close-up' as it shows well the restoration work. The image is particualrly efficient if you've been to Angkow and know how big these faces actually are. Welcome to TE, by the way!

A good crop of the face to bring a surprisingly effective expression, enhanced by the strange forms of the stones and the algae growing on it.
