Photographer's Note

The term Khmer refers to the language of the Cambodian people, but it is also the name of the majority ethnic group in the country (90%) There are other groups: Ethnic Vietnamese(5%) Cham(2 %) Ethnic Chinese (1,9 %) the rest are small tribal groups. Lao, Malay and Thai minorities.
The Khmer empire dominated most parts of South East Asia, between the 9th and 13th centuries.

A beautiful and nice portrait. I love the direct look into the lens and the cloth on the head she has. In the high sun the exposure is well balanced.

F/22! C'est sur que ça devait bien taper! Une bonne gestion de la forte lumière et un bon timing sur cette passante vêtue de rouge comme mon rameur ;D
Elle est bien positionnée et se détache bien du BG sombre.

Hello Laurent,
A fine portrait with a good contact between the woman and your camera. Her red clothes glow strongly in the sun and the dark background is well chosen. It's a bonus to see a few glimpses of the local food on sale.

I can image what could remember this woman from her childhood. I remember the old name of this country as Campuchia. The interesting note. Today they have a food and some liberty. Good reportage from this interesting region.

molto bello questo ritratto, mi piace tutto quel rosso in contrasto con lo sfondo scuro, mi hanno anche incuriosito gli exit...hai scattato a 1600 iso con un apertura a F22, non potevi usare meno iso e aprire un pò di più? io domando solo per imparare ovviamente....non per dar consigli, ancora ho molta strada da fare!!!!

I think you must be very selective in choosing the subject to suit the situation very well, a typical Khmer with her familiar headcover. The contrast against dark background is stunning and brings out the fig in striking colors very well, ensuring focus is held firmly on her. Looks like quite a character, great facial expressions and you can see the concern on her face as she is thinking ' who is this fellow taking a photo and what does he want'. But it's a great character shot indeed and timely taken, Well done Laurent. Congrats, TFS

A very strong portrait, she didn't seem too happy, but it could be the strong light that makes her squint her eyes. I am trying to focus on the over all photo but my eyes keeps wonder to the food behind :)
