Photographer's Note

During a nice little trip on the eastern bank of the Tonle Sap river (which has no tarred road), we came across a sculpture workshop, with Buddha statues just along the road. I just waited for someone to come across the scene...

Pendant une ballade le long de la rive orientale de la rivière Tonle Sap (sans routes goudronnées) nous sommes tombés sur cet atelier de sculpture à ciel ouvert, avec de nombreuses statues de Bouddha éparpillées un peu partout (seulement deux sont visibles ici), j'ai attendu que quelqu'un passe pour animer la scène....

Hello Laurent,
A very nice composition resulting from a lucky coincidence. I really like the combination of the woman on her bicycle and the Buddhas. The tree is another nice feature and so are the typical local houses. Colours and light are excellent.

tu as bien fait d'attendre que quelqu'un passe, surtout que là, c'est une jolie et souriante jeune fille dans des vêtements typiques(enfin,seulement le sarong).Le site est agréable avec l'arbre et les statues, mais surtout, les couleurs sont splendides.

This is a beautiful daily life scene. I like the warm lighting, and the lovely smile on the girl's face as she rides by. There are many nice details, such as the Buddhas and the traditional houses. It is interesting that this girl is wearing a shirt from "Abercrombie & Fitch". It is an expensive chain, and there are always models outside the one on Fifth Avenue here in NYC. Somehow one of their shirts made it to Cambodia. :-)

Hello Laurent,

What a cute girl with that charming smile riding right in front of Buddha's statue with peaceful face. I like the sleeping Buddha right behind the sitting one. I like the open space with some buildingd. The lighting , colors and sharpness are superb.

very good idea to capture this pretty girl together with the Buddha. The smile on girl's face add some joy and happiness to the scene. There seem also to be a second Buddha nearby. Is he sleeping?

Missed this one. The red earth contrast well against the blue sky. The cyclist animates the shot & the old Buddha statue makes a fine center of interest. Her red dress also contrasts well against the blue sky. Bonne journée!

A fresh and wonderful simple capture of rural scene, a real daily life observed first hand and interesting. More importantly to me is the lady, being the main focal in her vivid color adds so much to rejuvenate the shot in her natural surrounding in warm tones and well guarded.
