Photographer's Note
Aftern walking around in the city and through a market with all the traffic noise and dusty air. Finally when I came upon a small temple, don't remember the name of it anymore near the river just outside of Kratie, It was nice and refreshing, as I walked pass this hallway to see the boy enjoying the quiet moment, out of the heat.
I didn't really want to disturbed his peaceful time. I quickly took a shot and left him alone to enjoy his solitude. So I didn't really think too much about the camera setting or the composition. I missed the top of the archway and sharpness is a little weak, but I like the mood and atmosphere.

Hi Way
A nice one !
I like this soft portrait on a gorgeous luminous green BG and the corridor in the shade leading to the man quietly reading . Much serenity conveyed by this image
Certainly not an easy light to manage with the large panel of exposures here, but you did it very well
Have a nice day

Hi Way,
It is returning to the innocent days (always wonder at this title), and returning to your nostalgic trip four years ago. Beautiful composition. I am sure you didn't disturb him. very peaceful atmosphere.
i have no plans for this years, but I begin to think about the trip to this part of the world - I would like to go to Vietnam and Myanmar, and maybe also to Cambodia or/and Laos. I was already in Angkor and Louang prabang but not with a camera, so maybe i would go there once more to make some decent photos.
Warm regards

The pose is superb with the bending sandals and the attentive look. The DOF gives a dreamy feel to the shot.
The reason for cutting the top of the arch is explained in your note, that's not critical any way.
TFS.

Hello Way,
This is a great spot. Your depth of field is excellent and I like you low point of view allowing you to balance the shot well. The light is great for you too. If you'd have had more time it would have been interesting to see a vertical composition including more of the archway. Thanks for sharing.

James

Hello Way,
Regardless of the slight imperfection of missing the top of the arch, this is a lovely photo. The boy is sitting in a very natural and relaxed way against a fine background created by the tree. He is perfectly framed by the arch and the walls and there is a very fine light on the floor.
Kind regards,
Gert

Ola Way ,
Sem duvida um belo momento , foi pena não teres optado pela foto na vertical , mas o que vale e o momento em si do homem a ler neste corredor , boa profundidade de foto , bom controle de luz ,boa profundiade de foto, parabéns!!

Bonjour Way,
I love this shot. The imperfections aren't a problem here. Moreover the sharpness is very good according to me. The blur of the foreground contributes to attract our glance towards man who is the main subject of this photograph and increase the feeling of loneliness. I like you propose sometimes shots like this one which shows your sensitive face and I know with the little I know on you, that you have strong aptitudes for this kind of shots.
I added your shot to my them loneliness which is a theme I particularly like.
Great post Way. I really like your photography.
Passe un bon WE.

Hello Way
I love the diffuse lighting in this, and the general soft feel to this image, with a sublime DOF.
Yes the arch is missing but it doesn't make it a lesser photo, I think this one comes from the heart, possibly one of your best considering the landscape photographer you are.

Yes, you missed the top of the archway, Way, but the beauty of the scene does come across. The purity, the tranquillity, the serenity...the peace of mind. Or maybe that's just what it seems, and the poor guy is actually cramming for an upcoming exam:) Who knows? And does it matter? For the guy it does, for us looking at the picture it does not. We just admire.

The exposure control is superb here...its a digffcicult shot shooting from darkness to strong light outside through the 'tunnel'. The serene green creates a perfect backdrop for the student, engrossed in his study. The lead-in with the corrdoor is good. If you elected to have the arch at top, you would either had to click in vertical frame or reduce the portion of the corridoor, the later would have reduced the depth

Ciao dear Way,
the thing most important of this photo is not the cut arc or the sharp, but the beautiful atmosphere that you have captured, a serene atmosphere, almost of meditation. The spontaneous photos are always the most beautiful! Congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice day!

Dear Way,
I have read once in a book (Bridges of Madison County) that the real photographer does not shoot objects, but light. If the light is good, whatever there may be will be a good photo. And this photo is a great example of extraordinary light.
Good work, Ivana

Hello Way,
I have always WOW at your landscapes, but this picture is a proof that you are a real first class photographer ... no stunning landscape here, I do not mind the missing top of the arch at all... it is just a quick look not to disturb the peace expressed just masterfully.

Hi dear Way
Solitude, peace, a place and time to think. I love the depth to this photo, the view through the arches and the shallow depth of field are used masterfuly here to achieve that. I also like the cool green tones, which contribute to the calm mood. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Warm regards
Lisa (PS: Smilies or no Smilies, it's always good to hear from you Way!)

Hello Way,
The DOF creates a lots of depth, but is creates also a lots of calmness/peaceful atmosphere (you can almost hear the shared pages).
It is also a picture that tells a story and it is a picture that is timeless.
The light and composition are in a great belance.
Friendly regards,
Robert

A beautiful and extremely calming composition using the arch as natural framing, which certainly stands out and everything concentrates on the figure emphasizing mood to this tranquil atmosphere. In some ways quite emotive and calm within the limited private space. A sense of isolation and loneliness jump out at me, but the softness in colors and lighting are always the attraction as displayed here. Great work, Congrats, TFS
King regards
