Photographer’s Note
On the road between Kratie and Stung Treng, the road bridge was destroyed some years earlier, (see WS) the new bridge was SLOWLY being constructed, in the meantime cars, jeeps and small buses were transportated across the river by cleverly built rafts, powered by four strong men and a small outboard motor. Passengers including me, could either balance on the raft or clamber across the unfinshed bridge -wisely or not, I chose the latter.

Elaine,
this is a very good shot with an equally good note.good to see how modern day technology still depends on primitive ways for existence in the extremes. Thanks for sharing - Vikram

Hi Elaine!
It's good to see Unicef in action!
It's also great to see human cooperation and ingenuity overcoming obstacles.
Thanks for sharing (nice note too)

Hi Elaine,
Well timed and motivated shot of some trying stuff. In your shot the unicef vehicle is in crisis but I say the UN is in crisis these days. Such a shot.
Well depicted concern and focus on the vehicle. Well Done. Hadi

Hello Elaine. Excellent capture. Ingenuity certainly has no limits, just the same mind it comes from. Nice job.

Hi Elaine
Your shot realy sticks out by the spirit of travelling, I like that a lot, seeing a moment telling a whole story on its own, a quality that puts stills in to the shade. Excellent.

Hello Elaine,
This shot has given me a smile this morning, before I read your note. I just could not see exactly what was going on, with that old car on the river. But how true what you say, ingenuity makes all the difference, and often creativity and imagination flower in the most constraining of circumstances.
I am glad you made it over to the other shore. After this, Ottawa will not be that difficult! ;-)

Hi Elaine,
Great capture - I enjoy seeing such solutions. I also like to see the woman standing next to the car, she seems out of place....

A fine POV making the raft into a set of crossing diagonals. Nice colorscale in your photo but I don´t find that brown so nice in reality ;o)

This type of picture with its successful achievement should be on front page of magazine or newspaper. It's simple, it's easy, but it tells a million words about your hard trip.
Thank you!

That's a fantastic find, and has to go in my ferry theme. Is that powered by an out boar on one corner? I think I'd be a bit worried about trusting my car to it.

This looks like a precarious operation - I guess taking this photo might have been as well as you dangled from the half built bridge - I think it must be the most scratch built car ferry I've ever seen - all power to their ingenuity and courage!!
....and yours!
best wishes kev

Magnifique et périlleuse image d'aventure, le passage des rivières un must dans tous les circuits hors layons. Amitié/jr

So the POV is from the collapsed bridge :)
Well done
I presume that was a little bit difficult, under these circumstances, to mount a tripod to shoot with a lower speed, giving more movement to the exposure. :)
Well done. I like specially the clayed colour of the "troubled waters
