The Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque in Bandar SeriBegawan, Brunei.
I took this photo during a brief 24h stop over in Brunei. The Mosque itself is amazing yet what you dont see in any pictures of the Mosque is the wooden shacks across the river from it. Talking to a flight attendent on the plane he said that many of the country's citizens do not want to change from their traditional life despite the wealth of the country.
Much of Brunei seems this way. There are numerous massive new public buildings (malls, etc)but yet they lack any human life, instead it is all found down at the traditional markets and street stalls.
I guess for some money doesnt buy happiness |
