Photographer’s Note
This is the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan, capital of Brunei on northern Borneo.
This picture was taken in 1976, and although the mosque will look the same today, I think the surroundings may have changed.
This mosque is named after the 28th Sultan of Brunei and was built during the 1950's. It was designed by an Italian architect and its style is a mixture of Islamic and Italian traditions. There is an air-conditioned elevator in the minaret and a great view from the top. In the workshop is a picture of that view, which I had posted earlier.
Scanned from a Kodachrome slide.
This is my last upload for a while. I will go on a journey and expect to be back with fresh digital pictures in a few weeks.

Hello Gert,
This is quite a nice historical account of this beautiful structure. I like the high contrast and heavy saturation - it suits the scene.
Thanks for sharing

Hej Gert,
this is a very picturesque view (with an even more picturesque WS photo) :) Excellent scan job!
What may have changed there? The trees, maybe?..
I've always been curious about travelling to Brunei, but... looks like it's easier (in many respects) for men to travel to such countries, not for women!
I wish you a pleasant journey, and I'll be looking forward to new photos :)
Kind regards,
Elena

Hej Gert,
This is a very fine picture, it really has that feeling of an official picture postcard, that tourists can send to their families all over the world saying "we have been here"! A professional postcard photographer couldn´t have made i better. Have a nice trip and make more postcards!

Hello gert, the colour here is really something special.I enjoy the juxtaposition of the gold dome and clue sky.The dark trees add something extra too.
"I will go on a journey"...sounds so mysterious????
look forward to seeing what you bring back.
best regards,

Hej Gert,
It always a bit exciting to see your lastest post. I could be from anywhere in the world. I really enjoy your old pictures. The are like old post cards that nobody know why the arrived with such a delay. This is was sent 33 years ago. As usual the photo is of very high quality and the scanning job excellent. TFS and have nice weekend!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hi Gert
Hope you are having a good journey. This photo is so sharp and detailed it is like a painting - indeed something I might expect to see in an art gallery. Perfect with no sign of deterioration over the last 33 years. Again tfs, Marlene
