Photographer’s Note

10.09 a.m. - Yesterday, February 23 was Brunei’s 22nd National Day. A huge rally was organized at the town square to mark the occasion. As usual there were march-past from different organizations; speeches; pledge of loyalty; colourful performances and patriotic songs. It was a lively affair with music filling the air and anxious crowd trying to get a glimpse of what is going on inside the square. It was also a field day for the photographers who have always waited for an occasion like this to pit their skills and creativity.
I took this shot from the fourth storey of a car park just across the square where the celebration too place but have to use the zoom to its maximum. I also have to crop as there are a lot of unsightly wires and structures around.

Nice composition, frame fully packed with people. Great colors, but it would have been good if you could have managed to get a much closer shot. TFS.

Hi Aloysius,
A colorful rally, it seems to me the people are grouped by function according to the similar looking clothings, so this gives the idea of a corporations gathering, is it so ?
There's a strong multitude impression too here.

YOu have captured the crowd very well,
Its very ncie how they seem to create patterns by the way they are dresed.
I think you should increase contrast and decrease higlights to deal with the extreme whiteness of some people

Quite an amazing shot. Although there is no central focal point of interest, the scene comes together, as there are neat lines and graphics discernible because the people seem to be grouped to some degree according to costume/garb. This creates a pleasing panoply of colour and interesting dynamics. The clarity is also very good, as the individuals in most cases are well seen. Superb cropping, Aloysius.

Nicely done, Aloysius, but I've been spoiled by seeing the other similar type of shot first, which I feel outdoes this one.
A pity that you didn't get more detail in the highlights, although this is still a worthwhile shot.
