Photographer’s Note

I was on the little boat touring the water village, i then noticed this school is on the water. It really interested me. Students do need to travel by boats to school every day

Kampung Ayer is known to be the largest water village in the world; with settlements such as houses, schools, police stations, hospital and even a fire station in the village. The only way to commute around the village is by boats (as seen in pictures), and the Shell petrol station plays an important role for the boatmen for them to replenish their petrol throughout the day.

An interesting and funny part is the way the payment is done when buying petrol. The Shell's staff will let down a wired bucket, and the boatman would put money in there. When a change is necessary, again, the staff would put the change into the wired bucket and let the bucket down towards the boatman! Hope you would enjoy viewing this picture.
