[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi folks! I had taken this photo in the Bhutanese mountains on one of numerous passes in Trashigang province. You can see here the dog (I love dogs!) and prayer flags in the foreground, and heavy rainy clouds partially covering wooded slopes in the background... In 5 minutes after the clouds approached and downpour began...

Prayer flags are colorful panels or rectangular cloths often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas to bless the surrounding countryside or for other purposes. Unknown in other branches of Buddhism, prayer flags are believed to have originated with Bön, which predated Buddhism in Tibet. Traditionally they are woodblock-printed with texts and images.
There are two kinds of prayer flags: horizontal ones, called lung ta (meaning "Wind Horse") in Tibetan, and the vertical Darchor. "Dar" translates as "to increase life, fortune, health and wealth", "Cho" translates as "all sentient beings".

Lung Ta (horizontal) prayer flags are of square or rectangular shape and are connected along their top edges to a long string or thread. They are commonly hung on a diagonal line from high to low between two objects (e.g., a rock and the top of a pole) in high places such as the tops of temples, monasteries, stupas or mountain passes.

Darchor (vertical) prayer flags are usually large single rectangles attached to poles along their vertical edge. Darchor are commonly planted in the ground, mountains, cairns or on rooftops and are iconographically and symbolically related to the Dhvaja.

Hi Andrzej ,

Excellent composition of the concept.
It's interesting to watch the prayer flags in such a lovely vision, and the pet in foreground..
Good share, sincere.
All the best, dear friend.

Pozdrawiam

Czesc Andrzejku!
Bardzo przyjemna kompozycja z przemilym pieskiem. Ladny kadr z mgielka, ktora dodaje uroku tyej fotografii. No cos znowu sie dowiedzialem o flagach modlitewnych, dla mnie to egzotyka.
Pozdrawiam
Krzysztof

Witaj Andrzeju,

Witaj Andrzej!

Wyglada to tak jak gdyby pies wtargal ten ogromny glaz na szczyt i dumny z siebie pozuje do zdjecia ,hehe.
Ciekawa historia z tymi flagami.
Pozdrawiam

Cześć!
No, fajnie! Mgła jest zawsze bardzo fotogeniczna. A i piesek niczego sobie. Może tylko pokombinował bym trochę z ramką. Jakiś biały pasek jeszcze w to wsadzić. Fajna seria...

Czesc,
ciakwy religijny motyw z tymi flagami, ladny obrazek z pieskiem z dalekiego kraju. Fajna kompozycja i naturalne kolory.
Pozdr. Al.
