Photographer’s Note

The most important of all Bhutanese Tshechus (festivals) is the one held in October, in Thimpu, the capital, and on the grounds of the famous Tashiko Dzong(Monastery) This is a religious festival lasting many days and is celebrated in the honor of Guru Rinpoche. On this occasion many dances and other rituals are performed. Dzongs are otherwise closed to visitors. I was amazed to see how happy and cheerful the monks were when watching the shows. This picture was taken a few minutes before the festival opened.
