[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I really liked the colours around me walking through a forest in Bhutan and wanted to capture some memories. This small tree was one of the last to show it's autumn colours in the middle of a very big pine forest. I'm not sure about this picture to be honest, a good photograph of something as simple as leaves is hard to execute I think so I used a really shallow DOF to make it a little more interesting. I'm curious what people think about this as I was completely winging it with this one, so all feedback welcome, good and bad!

Very little post-processing, slight crop and saturation I think.

Hi Adrian,

I like very much the colors contrasting against the dark background, which has a great bokeh (guess you were very close to the max f/stop of your lens).

Regarding DOF, I think the issue might become a little subjective and a matter of personal preferences.

In my case I think that would have tried focusing on the closer to the camera (the lower ones in the image) using the center point, then recomposing, and possibly used one/one and a half smaller f/stop. This way I would get more leaves into focus, while keeping the nice bokeh on the background. But that is just me and it was you taking the photo. (Sometimes, as smaller f/stop means lower shutter speed, you risk motion blur, if there is breeze).

Best regards,
Carlos

Hello Adrian,
I like your automnal 'firework'; more dof would be great, but I guess it was quite difficult to fix!
Beautiful colors!
Regards
Knut
