Photographer's Note
The Taktsang monastery is the most famous Bhutanese monastery located in the Paro valley, western Bhutan. Perched on a cliff 900 meters above the valley, the Taktsang monastery is a must see sight while traveling in Bhutan. It is also known as "Tiger's Nest" because Guru Rimpoche is said to have flown on the back of a tigress in the 8th century. He then meditated in a cave here for three months where the monastery was later built. The cave is said to be the origin of Bhuddism in Bhutan.
The monastery caught on fire in 1998. The process of rebuilding it is still on process but the holy cave has been found intact after the disaster.
The monastery is located only 20 minutes north of Paro by driving or 2 hours hike from the base of the hill. Many pilgrims come from all other Bhutan to pay a visit to this amazing place.

Very pretty picture of an uncommon place, I like the fact that the monastery seems totally inaccessible from this point of view

Hi Tshering,
I am always amazed by these monasteries built in the most unexpected places. I suppose it's due to the fact that a monastery is a place of retreat, so away from the trodden paths, and usually located in the most beautiful places.
Your picture shows us a marvel of architecture that must have taken great efforts to build.
What a place to spend time in meditation ! Your POV is well-chosen and really makes one want to go there on a hike, rather on a car-ride !
Thanks for sharing.
Best regerds.
Marie-Louise
