Taktshang is the most famous of monasteries in Bhutan. It hangs on a cliff at 3,120 metres (10,200 feet), some 700 meters (2,300 feet) above the bottom of Paro valley. Famous visitors include Ngawang Namgyal in the 17th century and Milarepa.

The name means "Tiger's nest", the legend being that Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) flew there on the back of a tiger. The monastery includes seven temples which can all be visited. The monastery suffered several blazes and is a recent restoration. Climbing to the monastery is on foot or mule

cześć Andrzeju, juz widziałam zdjęcia tego klasztoru i zawsze robi on na mnie wrażenie. Fantastyczne położenie i architektura. Tu jeszcze flagi modlitewne, które tak lubię. Ty szedłeś, czy jechałes na mule? czy droga też taka przepaścista? Znakomite zdjęcie.

Pozdrawiam

Małgorzata

Olá Andrzej,

What a stunning spectacle. Its an excellent POV and splendid composition. An excellent photo of sharing in TE , type NatGeographic.

Hello Andrzej,

Wow, I think I'd either opt for the tiger or the mule. That looks like one hard hike up the mountain! How long did it take you to get to your point of view?! Wonderful how it hangs there on the edge of the rocks.
What kind of blasts did it suffer? I thought, I look it up on Wikipedia, but it seems that is where you got your note :-))). You actually have the exact same point of view as the photograph on Wikipedia. Funny!
Oh, I found it! It suffered a large fire several years ago! I was thinking about a canon blast ;-).
Thanks for sharing!

Greetings,
Dennis

Great shot Dear Andrzej, excellent management of light, there seems to be a strong difference between the foreground and the background light levels. Very nice inclusion of the flags too...

I've heard that Bhutan has very strict restrictions and / or requirement for tourists who want to visit the country. Is that right? Did you have any problem in that?
