"Praying Flags on Tiger Nest Monastry"
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
An other view to the Tiger Nest Monastry. The real name of this monastry is Taksang Lhakang. Lhakang is the Bhutanese word for temple or monastry.
On the left side of the pictrue you see some praying flags lined up on a rope. This rope of praying flags starts on left side out of the picture in the entrance courtyard and climbes up the hill to the top. It goes around the hill-top and climbs down again on the opposite site of this rock. It ends in the center courtyard of the monastry. It must be longer than 800 meters. The rock above the monastry is approx. 300-400 meters higher the the level the monatstry is build on.
The monastry burned down in the 80th. A monk had an aciedent with a butter lamp. Nearly the compled structre of the monastries is out of wood and the "normal" light is the butter light. The reconstruction work of monastry was nearly finished as i tooked the pictures.
Taking the picture:
- F80 Body
- Sigma 300er Tele-Lens
- No tripod
- no special preparation
- sitting only more than one hour just lookin to this monastry
- the picture is a bit leftside oriented because i wanted to see the tree on the right side. |
