In the far east of Bhutan, lies Tashigang at an elevation of about 3200m. It is the country's largest district. Tashigang is also a melting pot of hill tribe people who come into the town to trade. In particular, the unusual Merak and Sakteng people come to Tashigang to trade yak's milk products for provisions that they need in the mountains. Merak and Sakteng are located about 80km East of Tashigang close to the border with the India's Arunachal Pradesh.

Tashigang Dzong sits on a jagged piece of land jutting out from the town and it the first landmark that can be seen from the road winding up to Tashigang.

The Dzong was built in 1659 and it commands a spectacular view over the valley. It also houses the office of the Dzongda (District Commissioner) and home of the monk body. Unlike the other dzongs, it has only one courtyard.

I post in a workshop a closeup on the finely decorated door with the monks.

salut vincent,
amazing interior... i find it really great all those balconies, patterns created by the wooden details... quite a work to accomplish this building...
i'd only suggest maybe to strighten the walls with some pp tools so that the building does not lean over the monks :-))
anyhow, pretty interesting work,
best wishes, jerzy

What an interesting shot! And a so well done one, colors and composition are perfect . You make me discover this far country, thank you!

Hi Vincent

Fascinating architecture, with nice warm colours, & superb repetition of the windows. The monks in their red saffron robes add scale & context. Tfs!

thanks, ciao

bonjour vincent,

To see this in real life must have been a wonderful sight. The rich detail on the doors and windows is stunning. I like the wide angle view you chose to show three sides of the building and a snippet of daily life of some of the monks complete with dogs and chickens. Good WS too

Bonjour Vincent,

Hi Vincent,
interesting architecture. Beautiful bright colours and grood framing.
regards, Gerrit

Bonsoir Vincent,

Bien vu,
Bonne soirée,
JB.

Hi Vincent,
Once again a picture from one of the less visited places in Bhutan and a fine one as well. Beautiful view of the inner courtyard. Good symmetry all around.

Salut Vince,

Hi Vincent,

The symmetry is here very useful and beautiful. The building is surprising by the forms and colors, and the frame you has composed is beautiful. Calm and peaceful shot, however plenty of life and colors! Thanks, and best wishes

Angel.

Hey Vincent

Nice comp and colors. I really like the wide angle.
You have captured the daily scene very well.

Bonsoir Vincent,

Hi Vincent,
Very striking details and colors on this Dzong building. I am really enjoying your Bhutan postings. A high-quality image. Regards and best wishes. Danilo

This is really superb Vincent, I like how you framed it so as not to allow any distractions such as the sky or whatever to creep in, allowing us to concentrate on this beautiful building.
I like how the colourful walls on either side frame the main facade and focus our attention on it.
Finally, without the presence of the monks, dogs and chickens (?), this wouldn't have been as good. It's good to see that this is a living place.
Excellent.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Vincent!

Amazing architecture shot, very representative of this beautiful country and culture! Great composition and beautiful colours! Also very good sharpness and contrast. Congratulations!

Jean-Charles

Olá Vincent, spectacular interior of this architecture. Your perspective and composition is very well suceeded and the closer detail in ws is really good. Such remote places attract me very much and you have lots of them to show us. Tfs,
Ricardo

Hi Vincent

Hi Vincent,
This is truly beautiful. The image is full of colors and details.
I like the symmetry you captured very much.

Salut Vincent,

Hi Vincent - what a pretty building, so colourful and ornate, the symmetric perspectivew also works well, and of course the human element offered by the monks adds more appeal.

Very showy scene.
Through a majestic frame, you have caught the totality of the architecture. Excellent POV

Hi Vincent.

The architecture combined with the daily life of the people! Good idea.
But best because we are in front a very enjoyable (even I would say traditional) kind of architecture and also a kind of life (monks' life) so interesting for us as distant.
