Wangdue Phodrang (previously spelled Wangdi Phodrang) is a dzongkhag (district), of central Bhutan. This is also the name of the dzong (built in 1638) which dominates the district, and the name of the small market town outside the gates of the dzong. The name is said to have been given by the Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal who was searching for the best location for a dzong to prevent incursions from the south. At the chosen spot the Shabdrung encountered a boy named Wangdi playing beside the river and hence named the dzong "Wangdi's Palace".

Complimenti
Renzo

Hi Vincent!

I like the way you composed this picture, and the colors.
I like a lot to find so good informations about Bhutan

Livia

Vince,
Lovely shot of a still fascinating place. The capture of the three novices i nicely composed (the magic of three).
I can't help but wanting to crop on the left but who cares really...it works nicely the way it is. Rich colours here as well...the dark reds and maroons of their robes offset the white walls nicely and are in good harmony with the detail on the beams and the thangka on the wall
Cheers
MArk

Hello Vincent. A simple composition with good perspective. The children seem very interested in whatever they are looking at. The colors and definition of the composition are very good. Nice work and have fun in your journey :-)

This is one of your best shots with multi components here. Nice colors and composition with the monks to the side instead of centered.

I like the sense of scale here and you resisting the urge to zoom in.

Great Job.
Aloha, JB

This is great Vincent.
On the one hand I would have liked to have seen a closer shot of these young monks, but then we would have lost the detail of those beautiful doorways, so I think you made the right choice.
The composition works well, although I think I would have cropped the bottom slightly to remove the dark triangle of floor and the top of the step on the left.
Good work.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Vincent,
great catch of the boys looks, impressed, shy and a fine composition in beautioful colours.

Bonjour Vincent,
JB.

Hi Vincent
Good candid capture of the monks. I quite like the lighting on the wall in the middle of the frame (although bit harsh on the right)that provides some 'place' the boy monk could look into. The details of the architecture decorates very nicely the innocent expressions of the children...very well captured

bonsoir vincent

Alberto

Bonsoir Vincent

A little soft, but a superb daily life scene, with excellent colour, symmetry, & with a high daily life value. I like the graphism of the red robed novice monks, against the darker bg. Tfs!

Hi Vincent,
This is a very spectacular and suggestive photo. Details are talkative and fine. Its an impressive POV and fascinating atmosphere. Particular and expressive shot.
Thank you, nice days
George

Hi Vincent,
Another fascinating post from Bhutan. The tiny monks are a joy to watch. I wonder what they are looking at. Love the way you have framed them through the stairway.

Bonsoir, Vincent,
Bien faite.
Amicalement,
Josep

Hi Vincent,
The light is very special here, with the centre portion of the photo well illuminated and two almost separate scenes on either side. The two younger children seem to be gazing in awe at the light from on high. Good clarity of detail and rich hues and textures. Well captured.

Hello Vincent
Wonderfully composed….the framing of the novices, off-centre, with the passageway, the beautifully carved door on the left & the work on the roof just above the novices' heads. Excellent!

Angshu

Hi Vincent!

Very impressive image! It combines perfectly to diferent genres of photography, portrait-daily life and architecture. Great natural scene, with a strong composition. Beautiful colours and details. Congratulations!

Ciao Vincent, wonderful composition with lovely children and great architecture, splendid colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Vincent,
Good composition of this beautiful place. I like how you have included three little monks in the frame, the way one is looking towards the camera and other two are having their attention on some object upwards, make this shot very interesting giving some suspense,as we don't know what two monks are looking at.
Well done
Thanks for sharing
Best wishes
Vivek

Bonjour Vincent,
Amicalement,
Marilyn

Hello Vincent
Impressive image!
Nice composition and colors.

A fine composition Vincent, I probaly wou;ld have gone in tighter to the novices, but I am glad your didnt. Natural colours.

Beautiful, Vincent! I wonder what two of the boys are looking at? That adds just a bit of mystery to the shot. It's nice how the shot combines the traditional Bhutanese architecture, the worn look of this Dzong, and the wonderful faces of the boys, all important elements of the character of the country. Well done, regards, Ken.

Hi Vincent,
Gorgeous composition with the children with their different expressions. Very good colours and light well maneged. I also like the good note and how you framed the picture

Bonjour Vincent,

This is really beautiful Vincent, compliments, excellent composition, beautiful colours and nice presence of these small monks, a delicate equilibrium with nice atmosphere, well done.
Have a nice week

Hi Vincent,

I lke the 3 little monks which are well placed on the composition. Nicelly composed showing a little of the architecture and the inhabitantes of this monastery. I like especially the little boys face looking at something they look puzzeld. The other one has a peacefull smile to your camera. Nice timing!

Cheers,

Flavia

Great shot Vincent,
The expressions on the childrens faces in brilliant. What are they looking at I wonder?

Great composition Vincent. I love how the monk's are looking in different directions, one right at the camera and the other two off to the side. Good colors also, the monks robes contrast well with the background, which is, by the way, a great looking and interesting one. I like all the angles and levels in the building. Sharp with alot of detail.

Great work.
John

wonderful shot, captures the imagination of the children, really like it, thanks for posting.
