A view of Trongsa dzong in central Bhutan. There is a dzong in basically every district of Bhutan. It's a fortresslike building containing the local administration and a monastery. In Bhutan the modern society and the religion, lamaism, live side by side on equal terms. The oldest parts of Trongsa dzong are from the 16th century.
Behind the dzong is the modern town of Trongsa. The building on the hillside in the upper right corner is a watchtower, called the ta dzong.
This is scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Hi Gert

Those zong are really looking nice. These are the mark that makes it Bhutan, they gave their own architectural land marks thats sets them apart from others. Nice POV and composition.

Regards

Lopshang.

Hallo Gert!
What an impressive view! All the buildings somehow seem to be embedded in nature - they do not dominate it. I like this green landscape very much, this people obviously live with nature, not against it... A wonderful place!
Greetings from grey and rainy Germany!

Hej Gert,
This is definitely not Ireland but it´s very green anyway. Nice pattern of the houses along the hillside.

Hej Gert
Normally we see this kind of Lama buildings in a far more arrid land and not in a green forest like this. I like the contrast with the green and the whitewashed buildings.
Maybe it's to green. (In need of some complementary colors)
