For Claire, early morning Photo

Photographer’s Note

Thinking these last days of our friend Claire, whose mother passed away last Saturday... Could not find an appropriate photo...

The scan of an old photo from a slide, taken with a small Minox (difficult to get rid of the shades on the edges of the photo and I did not want to change the light).

... Just an impression, early at sunrise, travelling by boat in the delta.

Bonjour Catherine,

Une bien belle photo avec une superbe lumiere qui donne une sensation de calme.
Pour une composition plus harmonieuse et aussi plus classique, un recadrage panoramique donnerait de bons resultats. Ceci dit, la grande etendu d eau au premier plan et aussi une bonne facon de rentrer dans l image. Grace aux objets flottant sur l eau, on est conduit tout doucement vers les bateaux et l autre rive.

Elle est superbe,
j'adore cete lumiere et cete paysag telment depaysant. Peutetre tu as un peu trop d'eau, mais autrement cest une superbe photo de voyage.

hi catherine. gorgeous morning light in this one. the details on the far bank and boats are very good especially for a scan. a shame about that vignette on the edges: but not much can be done there unfortunately. that aside: i feel enthralled by the mood of the scene... how early in the morning is it?

dear cath,
i think we are not aware of these things until they happen to us. and we are not aware of how good friends we have until they stand beside us in anytime. thank you for the thoughts and hope claire will find the inner strength to live with this loss.

My condolences for Claire's lost...and my best admiration to you, what a deep archieve you have! Taken in 1978? I even wasn't born, I even wasn't a vitamin yet!!!
Although it is a scanned image, the quality is amazing. Mist of morning is everywhere... Nice idea of framing.

Ton cote emotionnel et humaniste a sorti cette belle photo te ton tiroir. Par ton geste et par ton choix, je reconnais toi que je suppose connaitre.

La seule photo gagnerait sur la valeur si on garde seulement le quart du haut-droit. Il me semble tres belle atmosphere sur le sol. Apres tout, c'est tres beau, chere Catherine.

PS. Je quitte Belgrade pour quelques jours. Une tres belle occasion pour refroidir la tete.

Believe me I long wanted to see some more posts from Bangladesh from you...this is a beauty & you've mastered the art of PP especially when we see that this scanned picture is 30 years old. Superb really, especially like the early morning light as it hits the rattan canopies of the boats. So rural...so Bengal. I become nostalgic.

Merci pour cette magnifique photo. J'aime les "early mornings" bien que j'adore aussi les "late evenings", ce qui est un peu problématique puisqu'il faut bien dormir à l'occasion! :)
J'aime aussi la brume et la couleur dorée que le soleil peint sur tout ce qu'il touche au début du jour et à sa toute fin. J'aime fermer les yeux tout en prenant une grande respiration et sentir que je suis vivante. Vivante!
Ma mère a été rejoindre mon père, son amoureux éternel...

Une fois n'est pas coutume. J'aimerais citer les paroles d'une chanson de notre poète Félix Leclerc. La chanson, La vie, l'amour, la mort :

Hi Catherine,
It's a very beautiful image. Minimalist, with a timeless atmosphere done by the peaceful ambiance, the framing , the fog, the light and the colours, which are all wonderful. It reminds an old hand painted photograph and I wouldn't be surprised to know that it was actually a new photo that had suffered a PP to look old, because its quality looks reasonably high for an old shot taken with a Minox.

C'est une très belle vision avec ces brumes et cett elumière très douce. L'endroit semble paradisiaque. Malheureusement, actuellement tout y est inondé et les dégats sont importants dans la région de Chittagong.
