Photographer’s Note

Most places I went in Bangladesh I attracted a crowd - especially when I pulled out my camera. Waiting to board the boat to the Sunderbans National Park I took a walk along the river bank. The children followed me so I would take their picture and my father described me as the Pied Piper of Hamlyn.

I found where they lived and the kids encouraged the adults to have their photos taken as well. I like this picture for the intense gaze on the woman's face. It may appear that she is looking at me diasapprovingly but she is a willing subject. Well, a willing victim of the childrens' insistence at least.
