Please go ahead and take my photo"' he said, in perfect English. And so I did.
He sat in the "tailor-street' , with maybe twenty others, all bent over old Singer sewing machines that had maybe seen more years than their owners. All making a small living making shirts and trousers for their regular customers. It may seem like a hard life and it probably is but, they do work for themselves in the open and not for Primark, H&M or the like is unsafe conditions.

We all have some themes of our own, maybe conscious or not, subjects that appeal to us in one way or another. And my girlfriend is a notorious sucker to the street tailors, so much that when I see one, I step aside and make sure I leave the opportunity for her to have... :-p))
I am sure that she will comment this photo as well, as there is a lot of appealing elements in your image, starting by the machine itself, with lots of details and fading embellishments. The wall in a similar state of declining serves as a great background for the humble man, while conveying a sense of simple life and resilience.
Ideal soft light for portray.

A really great photo here I think...and a great setting with the tailor behind a lone table with the background wall adding some character, too. But it's the way you captured him with his hand extended out for a welcome for you to photo that really makes this charming. And...he has a great face and style, too! Very nicely done by you here.

Hi Elaine. Extending you note one could add "... hence the healthy glow on his face and the gentle expression of his eyes." Good to see that he has retained his dignity, but then he had to have purchased his own sowing machine and obviously has sufficient skills to be versatile. Regards. Klaudio.

The tailor street, would be heaven for me ;-). So photogenic is this man and his old machine. I like his open gesture, and the characterful wall behind adds a great deal to the image too. The natural light coming is is soft and brings out every detail beautifully without obscuring anything with harsh shadows.

I like your informative writeup in particular the last last line! A win win situation there so to speak of a fine environmental portrait - the proud tailor - and the overall pleasant expression, relaxed and good eye contact, sharp in focus with clarity that gives a nice glow of colors. The eyes make for me and is very good so it has the effect of connecting strongly with viewers and the wall's artwork is an extra bonus. An excellent shot indeed and tfs
