Photographer's Note
A street scene, Dhaka
Rickshaw Art:
Initially, rickshaws were pretty much left undecorated, but starting in the late forties, the faces of movie stars began appearing as decorative motifs on shields at the back of the rickshaws along with a variety of floral paintings. Each district took its own style. For instance, Chittagong being a more pious city then Dhaka mostly has floral or scenery in the rickshaws where as Comilla has plain rickshaws with beautiful dark blue or green hood on which is sewn an applique of a minaret or floral design enshrining the word "Allah". Rajshahi boasts film stars and film heros.
These art on moving wheels are done using very bold, bright and raw colors, like fluorescent green, dark red and so on. The blaze of colors also help to make them long lasting.

Wow, you've made it to Bangla-Desh. Must admit I'm a bit jealous! This picture made me look at your other Bangla-Desh posts too, but I'll return here to leave my kudos. Art on wheels it is. A superb posed picture, with terrific bg colours. I'm looking forward to more pictures from your trip.

Hi Elaine
a beautiful study this, full of intrigue and wonderful character. It is such a compelling mixture of elements and as such, quite fascinating and original. I love the poses and expressions of the participants and of course the amazingly colourful rickshaw. Excellent!

Elaine - the poses of these two aren't unlike magazine models, which gives this a nice juxtaposition here. The framing and bright colors are excellent - a really evocative dual portrait. Looking forward to more from Bangladesh.

Hi Elaine
This is so catchy street photography with the stunning rickshaw as central focal which turns this to a very appealing result by placing the star of the ocassion at a right place in the composition. This works well too for the background detail with lots of interest, the overall colors are good, clarity is spot on. Indeed this shows that at each level there is something of interest to trigger the eyes. This is just fascinating piece of daily life shot and good title too. Congrats, TFS
Kind regards

Hi Elaine,
Bangladesh is at the top of my list of countries that I want to visit, and I am jealous that you've been there before me... :-p))
How to resist to such a eye-catching hand-lettered wall, already attractive by itself. But you brought another layer of interest with a traditional rickshaw in full colours. I found it delightful and funny to see these two fellows standing in front of this sign that promoted a model agency.
The local Brad Pitt and George Clooney?
Well done!
André
