Political Babooshka!!!! Photo

Photographer’s Note

A moment caught as people shop in a late night area of Baku - there were Matryoshka/ Babooshka dolls (матрёшка) of Putin , Bush and Bin Laden on a street stall - this was her reaction - when I have a moment I have a photograph of them too but because of the numbers of other people there I couldn't get a shot of the relationship - just the reaction as people talked about them.........

Excellent image quality. Kind of a discordant shot in the sense that she seems to have a kind of comic expression in a popular idiom, but the tones and use of light are right out of Classical painting. Though, maybe it's reminsicent of some Flemish School painter or other. Would love to see those Bush/Bin Laden dolls. Best, Hugh

You're a real, no the real, portrait specialist I would think of on TE. Superb mimics and light for a picture full of expression. Her left eye is incredible but you could have cloned the ugly acnea between her eyes :o))

The light,her expression, the hair, the mood, pimples, simplicity and a keen eye of a photographer is bringing in a great image.

A great expression seized and lovely tones and colors truly reminiscent of a painting and play of chiaro oscuro. However I miss a bit to see the context that brought her to look like this.:--), but I understand from your note that that was not possible:-).

if a word "perfection" would be appropriate (and i think it would) it shoud be sounded here - sharpness, lighting, "unusual" model...

Her dubitative expression is quite funny and the light, plus the quality of the photo are extraordinary - not amazing, you've got a super camera and you are a professional, but there is also a soul in many of your photos and that's what I like the most.
