[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A woman in green shawl crossing the wooden bridge in Old City district of Baku.

This was one of my favourite photos. I find some dreamy air in this one.

And a mystery:
Every time I shoot photos in this district in Baku, the photos turn out to be a little unsharp. So I have to sharpen it during postprocessing. It is strange. I couldn't figure out why, though I have some guesses:

1. It is just coincidence
2. I shoot around noon and the sunlight is too strong and direct (I don't know if this would effect sharpness in a negative way)
2. The architecture around is very impressive with very straight lines. So there may be an optical illusion that the eyes cannot get enough sharpness?? - Strange guess of mine :))

Any ideas?

Hi Alper
This is a nice image where the colours are subtle. I really don't find the sharpness to be a problem in this shot, although I would suggest a smaller aperture if you are having problems in this area. This will of course give a great depth of field. The only thing I dislike about this photo is the colour of your frame. It's distracting and would look better in white in my humble opinion.
Best wishes
Mark

Hi Alper,

I like your image because of the good warm colors and perfect pov.I also find that sharpness is not a problem in this shot.I would have used only another frame... see my ws.

With regards from Luxembourg

Hi Alper!
The sharpness is OK and the vertical format works well for the composition.Great POV and good diagonal of the bridge. These soft, yellow tones are nice and contrast well with the sky.

Strange guesses , yes, Alper. Your file was quite small, less than the size permitted, so that may account for something. However this looks quite sharp to me. I like the crisp presentation of the architecture and the predominance of the warm honey colour of the stone etc. The green of the shawl contrast nicely with this. I would prefer the figure not to be in the center of the frame, which is the weakest position. It would have looked better if she were just entering the frame from the left, giving the composition a sense of movement. Or you could have waited for another subject to come along. I am not sure about the long, thin format, this to me leaves you with too much sky and too much empty foreground, which is under exposed anyway. I think a tighter crop would have more impact. Anyway, it is a very nice image regards kevin

Hi Alper

Very sharp with good detail. Nice work under the harsh sun. You have some great images from Azerbaijan. A place I really would like to visit. Good view into daily life. Well done.
Ben

Merhaba Alper,

Selamlar
Bülent
