Photographer's Note

Started in 2007 and completed in 2012, the complex of three skyscrapers (South West and East) called Flame Towers is the tallest landmark in Baku. The shape of the buildings refers to Azerbaijan's Zoroastrian past.

As soon as I saw them I thought they would make for a good blue hour subject. Little did I know that at dusk the Towers would turn into colourful, constantly changing LED screens. Here, the Towers displaying the colours of Azerbaijan flag.

I was going to upload a WS with another shot showing these buildings towering over the Old City but there already is a very good one on TE taken at the time when the Flame Towers were still being constructed:
