| Site of one of the first Christian churches in Armenia. this temple was built in the 11th century. Armenia was the first county to officially adopt Christianity as its national religion in the fourth century A.D. The church on this site first existed as a cave carved into the sandstone cliffs of the mountain. Later, in the 11th century, a new temple was constructed on the site. Today, both structures can be visited. |
