I was inspired by Paul's photos so there is no wonder I visited the same places. Also for me the trip to Tatev was a highlight of Armenia. It is quite far excursion from Yerevan - about 250 km one way. In high season one can join the organized tour, but in April there were almost no tourists, so the best and maybe only way to go there was to go by car with a driver. And it had this advantage that we could stop for photos in any place we like, for so much time as we needed and we also visited other interesting places - Noravank and Zorats Karer. Besides the monastery itself, the big attraction is to go by Wings of Tatev. It was a great fun to "fly" over 300 m above the ground in a small car. We were the only passengers so we could make photos from all the sides. The views were really breathtaking (see Workshops)
Wings of Tatev is a 5.7 km cableway between Halidzor and the Tatev monastery. It is the longest reversible aerial tramway built in one section only. Construction was finished on 16 October 2010.
Gathered in the country's southern mountains near the border with Iran, guests including president Serzh Sarkisian and the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Karekin II, took part as the cable car link launched its first official voyage over the Vorotan River Gorge. The link allows year-round access to Armenia's 9th-century Tatev monastery complex, one of the country's most important religious centres and a major tourist attraction.
The cable car travels at a speed of 37 kilometers per hour and a one-way journey takes 10 minutes. At its highest point over the gorge, the car travels 320 m above ground level.
It has two cabins, each capable of carrying up to 25 passengers. On 23 October 2010 it was officially recorded in the Guinness World Records book.

Hello Malgo - A great note and a superb vantage point. The cable-way sounds like fun and gives a passenger a brilliant view of the monastery and surrounding landscape.
An impressive shot with lots to see and all in crisply captured detail.
Thanks for the Easter wishes, I send the same to you and yours.

Hello Malgorzata ,
An outstanding place , indeed ! A slighty different POV than Paul , for this excellent capture , despite a poor light .
Well done .

Three terrific views and fine photos, this one no doubt being the most attractive. The large version proves the good sharpness and fine exposure. Going 250 km one way just for seeing one place still sounds like a very long detour. I guess you found it worth the time and effort.

Wonderful ... the last images in your gallery Georgia and Armenia. As in the case of this superb view, combining the spectacular rugged scenery, with the amazing and fantastic architecture of this religious complex.
Very well managed the brightness and sharpness to enjoy this beautiful picture, which I love.
Gorgeous color, these natural shades.
Have a happy weekend.

This place looks so precarious perched on the edge of the cliff like this, and that feeling is enhanced with the mountains beyond that give the feel of this as a very high place. A beautiful complex of buildings, and the lush green foreground looks like a different world to the darker area behind, thanks for the differing light. Once again, the textures you caught here are amazing.
A beautiful place and image.
Thanks as always

Excellent bird's eye view of the detailed Gothic Tatev Monastery, as if evolving from the rocks, blending with its high perch and the ongoing distant mountains.
Thanks for sharing,

yes, Happy Easter to you aswell.
I forgot to post an Easter themed photo :(
now this is the type of subject that i really really enjoy. lots of history, lots of grunge and who can resist the classic cliff-edge type of view!
Imagine this place in its prime, must have been amazing to walk around here.
sweet shot, wouldn't change anything.

ein ganz fantastisches Foto, sehr gute Bildschärfe und Qualität, auch deine Information ist sehr gut.

Landscape extraordinarily fascinating! Exceptional location of this monastery! Your photo brings out all the beauty and the mystery! But it is inhabited? Incredibly set in unspoilt countryside, away from everything and everyone! Very nice!
Best Regards, Nino.

Gorgeous terrain, beautiful architecture that matches it. The DOF is superb and light management is masterful.
