Garden plot by the river
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is somewhere in northwestern Afghanistan, from a journey along very bad roads in May 1973. At this place I think my pick-up truck had stopped at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere so we could have some kebab for lunch. There was a tiny garden plot for growing vegetables next to the river, and further back a single vault remaining from an old bridge, now connecting nothing with nowhere.
I have scanned this photo from a Kodachrome slide. |

Hallo Gert!
This looks like taken in another world ... the whole scenery is very very impressive - in each respect! I wonder what has changed there meanwhile.
Greetings from sunny Siegen - and all the best for the beginning year!
Frank
Hej Gert,
Time goes by and this picture really feels like something from a very long time ago, not only 35 years ago. The somewhat dull colours reinforces this experience.

Hej Gert,
Färgerna får mig att tänka på en gammal skolplansch och motivet också, ungefär som en illustration till Bibeln eller nåt. Men kompositionen är bra!

God fortsättning på de nya året Gert,
This image looks a bit llike a typical colorized postcard from the beginning of last century, with a a low colorkey and people in distans in this classic comp.
Hej
ANders
Generally I'm not too much for the landscapes, but ah ! this kind of landscapes ! That's something totally different... And what charm, compared to the nowadays digital photography, often too smooth, sensational and perfect : I'll add this to my 2nd favorites (hoping that it will work, I noticed that these last days I have to repeat and insist many times).
You're lucky to have seen that country in such blessed years...
Thank you to post such gems here, I love those faded colours !
Compliments and best regards,
Cath.
