Photographer’s Note
While in Kabul, we were checking out a potential location for a job, and as we pulled in, noticed these kids hanging around. I grabbed a quick shot of them as we drove by. I love the kid on the left, fists balled up like he's gonna kick some butt. They were having a good time posing for the camera.
Some adjustments of levels to fine tune the exposure and some cropping done to reduce some of the empty space caused by a quick set up and shot. Otherwise, it was just the right time and place.

Hello Dave,
The response of kids a camera is always interesting. Years ago I was standing behind a National Geographic Photographer as he was about to take a photo of a group of children. I had planned to shoot when he shot. He waited and waited, the kids went through a number of phases -- first eager, then anxious, the frustrated, and finally, when they seemed to become resigned to the fact that this guy was not going take their photo -- immediately, "click, click, click,..." He captured that very last mood, and showed the transformation to a look of surprise. I followed his lead, but what a nice lesson!
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Dave,
I always like to see pictures of Afghanistan on TE. Kids make great subjects and are always willing to pose for the camera. I like the different expressions on their faces.

Hi David,
A well composed photo with good sharpness and colors. They all look happy and carefree but unfortunately these kids live in a troubled part of the world. Let's hope the war ends and these kids have a bright future. Best regards. Danilo
