Photographer’s Note
This is my first posting from Kandahar, the "HQ" and birthplace of the Taliban. I just returned to Kabul from there.
These guys don't look too bad though, do they? At least they found being photographed to be humorous.

Good composition, DOF and moment. The pic. is a bit saturated / overexposed(?)
You have a good collection of Portrait closeups from the Afgan region! This is Good one :)

Nice portraits. The second man is slightly out of focus due probably to a large aperture of Camera diaphragm

Nice portrait. Good to see there's something to laugh about in this torn country.

Really nice close-up... close enough to almost be able to look into their hearts. In spite of this close-up they are not looking at the camera, which I find great.
I've noticed that almost all your portraits are of people smiling... I presume that you must be a smiling man yourself. With the kind of work you are doing at HOPE you would need to be able to smile and to be optimistic to help these people look at the future with a smile.

actually they look quite nice, but should they look bad? I like the framing and the fact that the man in the bacgground is blurred. Thank you David.

Nicely cropped (or framed), David. This gives them a strong presence, and there's a feeling of togetherness, both physical and psychological , by the fact they smile looking in the same direction.

Très belle image, pleine de vie. Bien composée et la profondeur de champ est juste comme il faut. J'aime beaucoup.

First of all, this is a unique location to see photos from - few people go to Afghanistan, and even fewer make it down south to Kandahar. And then the photo itself is very good, not only it is well executed but the friendly expression on the men's faces are in such sharp contrast to all of the scary stories about Kandahari Taliban that we can come across in media everywhere. Thanks for sharing.

I love the older man out of focus very nice effect! I'm sure that David planned it as it's very artistic! If both were focused the effect would be kind of .. "flat", now it looks deepful !
