Photographer’s Note
On my flight back from Thailand to Germany I had this impressiv view for almost a full hour of flight.
As you can see, the colours of the lake and the rivers are shiny azure standing out against the red mountains.
Although I had (obviously *g*) to take this shot through a more or less dirty window I could manage to recover the vivid colors. Only the upper part seems to be too blue - sorry for that...
I named this shot 'topographical view' because it reminds me so of that special topographical maps you come across sometimes, where mountains seem to have 'real' hight.. urm, don't know how to decribe this better...
I have to admit I am really not sure if this actually was Afghanistan, because the GPS wasn't working - so I can only guess. If you know better, please let me know!

Fantastic view, most of shot did outside of plane's windows aren't so good, you got a really nice work. Shapes and colors are very good.TFS

Fantastic view Gunnar,
the shape of the lake it reminds me the dam of Band-e-Amir near Bamyan but I can't be sure.
You were lucky anyway to have such a wonderful view.
