Photographer’s Note
Good morning TE!
This picture was taken at Ali’s Shrine in Mazar-e-Sahrif on a Friday. Spending an afternoon within the compound of Hazrat Ali has been, for me, one of the most peaceful and restful experience ever lived in this country. Between the Sufis singing, the children playing and laughing around the shrine building, elders having a snooze in the shade of the mosque, families relaxing leaning against the walls of this remarkable masterpiece of architecture, there is, I believe, more than enough to convince the few skeptical, who find it hard to believe that Peace and Islam are compatible.
Keep well!
Vincent

Hello Vincent,
I like the way you have combined this beautiful mosque with an everyday scene of women and children. The colors and architecture of the mosque are wonderful, and the composition, with the people sitting in the doorway, works very well. It is nice to see photos from a place we don't get to see very often.

Hi Vincent, i love your opening introduction it is so funny : )
welcome to TE and yes its a long way to tipperary (12000 or more points) ha, ha!
You have captured the mosque in an everyday scene with bustling people, a good touch and thought. The pov and perpective works well and the architecture is great. do u know the type of tiles used on the walls is it mosiac? the detail of the colour design is so different from what i am used to seeing.
TFS and the very informative note. keep well and keep posting and talk soon.
regards
Lynette

Vincent, this is perhaps, my favorite of your posts thus far. The complete and busy geometry of the masjid and your veiled subjects works well. Exceptionally colofrul. I would have tried for a more centered point of view though if possible. regards, c

Hi Vincent!
I like your job and your humoristic notes. In this one, I like the colourful crowd of women, the delicate reflections on the marble opposed to the flashy mosaics. I would crop just a little bit on the right because the standing boy disrupt the general scene with a movement. This is an illustration of the afghani women's condition: waiting. Waiting at God's gate for some more justice, waiting for some mollah's decision, waiting for a husband gone to make war to return home, waiting from the world some compassion and care.
I don't know if Piece and Islam are compatible but I hope Peace and Islam can be! (Haha... read your note again!)
Wish you the best. Take care,
Marine

Hi Vincent. The human face of your shot is interesting and the architectural aspect is great. I love the way you included all these women (besides a reference to daily life it givesus an idea of teh real dimension of the building) and the decoration of the mosque is absolutely beautiful. Light and colors are good. Regards, Yvonne
