Photographer's Note

He looks wet and not very happy, but his sisters were just nearby and ready to comfort him, so he was in no big trouble.

I saw this little boy and many other children in the park by the Hazrat Ali mosque, which I showed recently, in Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan in May 1973. The mosque garden seemed to be the city's major playground.

I have scanned this from a Kodachrome slide.
