Photographer’s Note

Band-e-Amir means the Dam of the King.

The lakes are formed by sulphur deposits that have built up over the ages to create high walls holding back the water. The walls are multi-coloured from the minerals in them and water cascades over the top.

This photograph is taken from below the lake featured in my last couple of posts. The bushes at the top of the dam are those seen at the end of the lake in this picture.
