Photographer’s Note
Band-e-Amir means the Dam of the King.
The lakes are formed by sulphur deposits that have built up over the ages to create high walls holding back the water. The walls are multi-coloured from the minerals in them and water cascades over the top.
This photograph is taken from below the lake featured in my last couple of posts. The bushes at the top of the dam are those seen at the end of the lake in this picture.

Hello Jonathan,
Incredible pictures from this wonderful contry.
Just a pity the light is so hard. Maybe it would be possible to get there early in the morning or late at sunset.
Anyway beautfiul colors and magic landscape.
Regards. Christian

Jonathan, ce paysage très minéral est très beau, l'eau fait briller la roche colorée ce qui donne des couleurs irisées. Et pour fond à tout cela un ciel des plus bleus.

Jonathan
I like the colours caused by the sulphur deposits. When I was in Peru in August I noticed land and sea scape similar to this, caused by sulphur deposits too. The effect can be stark and stunning. Well captured here.

Hi Jonathan - where ever you go you always seem to be able to find one of these natural springs with interesting mineral deposits, and here is another one, in Afghanistan no less! I like the diagonal composition, and the very blue sky. Excellent work!

Hi JonathanHi Jonathan, A well composed picture with diagonal layer out. A beautiful capture of the colorful waterfall. This solves the puzzles in my mind of where the water of the lake come from in your previous photos.
