Photographer’s Note
One of the fabulous blue lakes of Band-e-Amir taken from the shore line. This is the most popular spot to visit. It has a mosque, shops, restaurants and even a boat for excursions on the lake.
Band-e-Amir means "Dam of the King". The colour is caused by minerals and sulphur deposits have created huge walls that hold back the water.

Jonathan. What colours and bibrancy you have captured in this picture. At first glance I though it was in America with the colours and the verticle cliff faces.

Jonathan, autrefois on pouvait se procurer de l'encre pour stylos "bleu des mers du sud" ce bleu m'y fait penser c'est une couleur qui embellit tout le paysage. Ce dernier a quelque chose des paysages des western. Belle réalisation.

Just marvellous Jonathan! Is it crowded, being a popular place? It seems like paradise and I can't imagine this full o people.
Again, wonderful colours.

Hej Jonathan,
I like the wonderful deep blue colour of the water here, especially in contrast to the warmly coloured mountains. Well composed, it's really impressive nature!

Jonathan such a wonderful place. I am used to seeing green grass and trees around lakes from where I come from. This photo with the dry earth surrounding the blue water sure mskes the water inviting to see. Good detail and great POV on this scene. Regards Paul.

Hi Jonathan,
Ever since I started traveling, I have always dreamed of visiting these lakes! Like all the other photos I've seen of this place, you've captured the wonderful blue color of these waters and the red surrounding cliffs. A good compo, very sharp and crisp.
Have a nice Sunday.

Hi Jonathan, A beautiful scenery with the clear blue water together with the blue sky. It is interesting to see the bare surrounding mountains. We are always expecting to see plants and forest surround a lake. This place is really special. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jonathan - superb, it looks like from a dream, seeing such a clear deep blue pool of water surrounded by such arid looking mountains, this place by itself makes a trip to Afg, worthwhile, though I'm still too scared to go (having said that, Im going to Yemen in february)
