The Blue Lake Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another of the stunning lakes at Band-e-Amir. The bright colour stands out as if it is a jewel in the middle of this dry mountainous landscape.

This lake is deep blue in contrast to the almost black one I posted last night - Lake in a Barren Land. This picture is just to the left of the previous scene.

The contrast between the blue blue lake and the very dry and barren hills around is very strong, both in terms of the colour and the 'wetness' vs dryness - well you know what I mean. Great work!

This is just as good as the one you posted yesterday, Jonathan, and it's interesting to see how the different POV changes the colour of the lake. It's deep blue colour is such a contrast to the brown landscape. I suppose there must be minerals in the ground that cause this colour. Cheers . . . David
