Photographer’s Note
Band-e Amir is one of the most attractive tourist places in the world. A series of six clear, blue lakes are located on the north side of the Koh-e Baba (Baba mountain) in Bamian province in central part of Afghanistan.
The lakes are formed by the flow of water over a succession of natural dams, running from the higher to the next one below. According to local tradition the dams were the creation of Hazarat-e Ali (Caliph Ali), and the word "Amir" (King or Commander) referes to the Caliph, not to any Afgan ruler

Nice shot of interesting place on the Earth! Who knows what is there now? (according to the Photo Info the shot was taken in 1977...)

Great color! the blue can "calm down" the arid landscape that surrounds the lake! nice pic!
