Photographer's Note
Once to twice a week the Ilyhushin 76 (Large Russian transport Plane) arrives in Novolazarevskaya from Cape Town with cargo and passengers to be flown to nearby research bases operated by various countries. Germany, Belgium, South Africa, Russia, U.K. etc... This was the first day I arrived on the continent, along with all the other passengers (a couple of whom are in this photo as we have just gotten off the plane). I would be stationed here for the next four months working as a pilot who did the flights to these various research bases.

Low sun reflecting on the ground and almost black snow because of underexposure makes this photo interesting.

les couleurs sont magnifiques et l'on ressent bien l'isolement et la taille de cette étendue.
