Photographer’s Note
Volcano Island on the Artic Peninsula in Jan 1993.
Starting in Punta Arena we cross the Cape Horn. Volcano Island is a caldera and you can go inside the archiple by ship. No snow or ice is here in summer time because the volcanic activities warms the water.

For a 1993 photo the scanning came up really good. The sea looks like lost a bit of colour but is still very good. And the sea lions are the perfect live elements for an Antartica scene. Well done.

Hi, Achim. A place that looks far away from everything. The cliffs makes it look quite inhospitable and the fog in the background makes it look a little threatening. The otaries seem to enjoy the place. The dark sand brings a good contrast with the water.

It's amazing how well the scan has come out. The mist in the background adds to the feeling of desolation despite the sea lions. Well done

Hallo Achim!
Was will der von uns?

Super Bild,
Viele Grüße Kris

Whaou!
Nice to dig out the old treasures and scan them for the pleasure of TE viewers! It's quite good for a scan, despite the overexposure of the sea. It's fantastic to see such landscapes that seem to be out of this world: The sea, the volcano, the cliff that would illustrate one of Tolkien's novels perfectly!
But what are these pinkish bits on the lava? Surely not confetti for the wedding of these sea-lions?! :)) !

Hi Achim,
I have to look at the location twice ... you certainly have traveled to remote places. A fine glimpse of the pristine environment we all long for nowadays. Wonderfully captured and presented... an excellent documentary photo. Tfs.
Cheers,

This is quite an attractive and exotic image for me. Incredible cliffs, great FG with the sea lions. The light is tricky but the right burned side and sea doesn't diminuish the beauty of the place. Love it.

Hi Achim,
In spite of the hard climatic conditions of these areas, it is a place which I will like to visit a day. Fauna and the flora are very interesting there. Pretty scan on this marine landscape and these sea lions. Thank you for the sharing of this memory.
With all my friendships and a very good WE,

Hallo Achim,
kaum glaubhaft, dass es in dieser Umgebung Leben gibt. Aber die Eingeborenen fühlene sich sichtbar gut. Sehr gute Scanning, muss ich sagen.

Hi Achim,
I've never knew there were green colors in Antarctica. These lovely sea cows are probaly working on their tan. Very unique beautiful image.

Hi Achim,
Excellent work with the scanner! I imagine it is very difficult to manage light in the conditions of this place and you've done it well.
Crossing the Cape Horn (in a boat) is even much more difficult, I suppose! Were you in a sailing boat? Bravo for the courage!

Hello Achim
Antarctica...you've been there too...Gosh! The scan quality is great & I like the greenish tones of the rocks in the BG...the mist also add to the beauty, not to mention the quartet of sea lions. Good work!
Best Regards

Hallo Achim,
It's not everyday that one sees a photo of Antarctica, even less form an amateur. Besides the irresistible attractiveness of the place, it's also a great photo, very graciously composed. Besides the animals and their poses, I like the gradation of tones and 'roughness', from the dark sand of the FG to the shining fog of the BG. It's remarkably well for scan.
TFS, Lieben Gruss, José.
