Photographer’s Note
Amazing Altocumulus lenticularis over King George Island, South Shetland - view from American Antarctic Field Hut "Copacabana".
It was the middle of summer. During windy days this kind of clouds arise over mountains in maritime Antarctica. This lens-shaped clouds form over mountains because of wave movement of the air crossing a mountain ridge. Interesting fact is that this clouds are very stable during windy days and their position is in the same places during the same wind direction.
P.s. Technical detail, this photo is match of 8 photos made from tripod.
Please enjoy this picture in a LARGE PANORAMA too,
with best regards, Piotr Angiel

Hi Piotr,
Very strange looking clouds. It's like snowfields would take-off and rise to the sky. I guess it requires some kind of special arctic weather conditions to create a spectacle like that. Large panorama was an excellent choice to show this.

Hi Piotr,
I like this photo best among your other Altocumulus lenticularis shots/compilations. Shapes of clouds on your photos are unbelievable. I haven´t seen anything like that before. The large version of this photo is astonishing, I think I could gaze at it for hours.
You have very well managed the stitching, it is almost flawless.
Circular polarized with your skill does true miracles!
Best regards,
Adrian
