[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday I had shown you the beautiful side of the Antartic Peninsula. I think it is necessary to show also the bad side. You could see here the tanks where the oil of the walrus and whales was cooked. When the fishing men quit their activities they left all their garbage on this beautiful volcanic island - I feel a lot of sadness about this.

Hi Achim!!!

This picture has a melancolic atmosphere all around, the colours and the light reforce this character, great one ;-)

Have a great day ;-)

Miguel

Hallo Achim,

Achim: points here for the out of the way place. Ironically, it's the discarded settlement rubish that lends character to this otherwise typical picture. regards, c

Hello Achim,

A+

HI Achim
What a pity that this spoils the environment. This is a great reportage shot with a stark message.
Best wishes
Mark

Hello Achim,
What a pity to see this! Interesting photo of reportage, but sad.

Christian

Great and very honest of you to make us aware of the sad side of the picture. What country does it belong to? Do you know if anything will be done about this desolation?
Thanks for sharing!
Marie Louise.

Such a destruction of the environment should never be allowed. However our hand are tied in issues like this. Excellent picture showing this environmental disaster. Good perspective of the tanks polluting the view acros this volcanic beach. Thanks for sharing and explaining the meaning of what we see here.

Hi Achim.
This one is clearly awful but it is also a very good document about the stupidity of people. I did not know that we had already managed to bring our pollution to the Antarctica in such a spectacular way. I thought that this place was more or less preserved. I was naive and I'm sorry I have to change my opinion.
Good contribution, even if I don't like to say that on such a vision...

Even in Antarctica the men have find a way to pollute and destroy everything around him. Still a long way from real progress. Good documentary picture.

This is such a different shot of the ones shown of Antarctica, and I am happy you have posted this. Indeed, it is very sad to see such an ugly landscape in one of the true wildernesses left on our planet.

Very appropriate photo for this site, and the essence of what we're on here for. To learn. Merry Christmas

Regards,
David
