Photographer’s Note
"Mount Erebus in Antarctica is the southernmost active volcano on Earth. 3794 metres (12,448 ft) high, it is located on Ross Island, which is also home to three inactive volcanoes, notably Mt. Terror.
The volcano has been continuously active since 1972 and is the site of the Mt. Erebus Volcano Observatory run by the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. The crater is home to one of the very few permanent lava lakes in the world.
Mount Erebus was discovered in 1841 by polar explorer Sir James Clark Ross (whose ships were named Erebus and Terror; these ships were also used by Sir John Franklin on his disastrous Arctic expedition), and first climbed (to the rim) by members of Sir Ernest Shackleton's party in 1908. The ships and the volcano were all named for Erebus, a primordial Greek god, the son of Chaos." from wikipedia.com

Hi Antoine,
Good note with this! Breathtaking view. The light circumstances are hard but it looks excellent. I like how you captured that chimney effect. Very good. TFS, Gilbert

Bonsoir Antoine,
Superbe image !
A bientôt, Robert

Like two pictures, like two worlds. Like two lights, upside light and underside light.
Is this really one picture, with one exposure? Must be. So slow blast.
Perfect, and more...
Thanks Antoine

Hi Antoine,
This is most impressive. To see such remote place is a privilege. Not only remote but amazingly beautiful.

Bonsoir Antoine,

Just like old locomotive... The air is so clear so I can see clearly the edges, bumps and shapes on that far mount. Just PERFECT

Salut Antoine,
A Bientôt.

Beautiful scenary captured. Sharp enough for details and smooth for a sensual landscape. I am adding it to my favourites, if it is ok :)
Thanks for the note

Hi Antonie!
To take a photo of such a beauty in the coldest and harshest conditons in the world...take my sympathy! You did extremely well here, nice capture, ballanced colours, all good.
I'd love to be there myself.
Take care,

Awesome sight. Must be amazing at night when the clouds are illuminated by the lava below! When you see a mountain of such altitude from sealevel its always impressive!
Thanks...

Bonjour Antoine,

Hi Antoine, Very good composition of this majestic volcanoe. Good notes about it. Maybe where an Air NZ plane crashed in the 1970? Very clear image. Well presented. Murray.

Antoine
This is an excellent image, well exposed and composed. The photographer's note was informative and intersting.
I am posting a workshop with some technical notes about color balance, and rendering, not as criticism but informational.

Chris
