They are dancing, but not for joy. They are expressing their sorrow, anger and fear because twelve of their friends and neighbours have been killed. This is from a mass funeral (same as yesterday's posting) of ANC-activists or sympathizers killed by the "third force" of plainclothes policemen, security agents and collaborators that tried to prevent the ANC from coming to power when democratization of South Africa was inevitable in the early 90's.

Well captured moment with great colors.
First when I saw this photo I thought that there is some party going on but unfortunately you note tells something else...
Sad story but great photo.

it is wise to post such pictures because the world is not only nice landscapes...and TE should not only be a place for that!

An impressive and interesting reportage photo! They express their feelings in an for Europeans unusual way but one can read in all these faces that it wasn't fun in these days.
This must have been an impressive experience for you ...

This shot is historical, I think. A vivid capture and a perfect scan. An excellent illustration of the changes that happened in the 20th century - during our time:-)

This is impressive picture, with an excellent quality for an image scanned from film.
Of course these are bad old days, but I heard that today is not better in that country because of unprecedented raging of crime and "white flight" inspired by it.

I love these types of shots and thank you for scanning it and posting it. It is amazing to think how much change has come to that country. Personal photos make events seem so much more real to me, than just reading about things. I like how you've captured the woman in blue looking almost at you (or it appears that way). She gives depth to the emotion expressed by the dancers. Well done.
