Photographer’s Note
I'm not quite sure what all the different types of pots are for. These are rolled in the sand when still wet in order to make a rough surface - to keep water in it as cold as possible. The egg-like pots in the other picture are also used for keeping water that is dripping from a huge pot (kind of amphora). Very smart ways of having cool water in the desert.
