Photographer’s Note

The reddish colours of the earthy walls of Kasbah are the original ones, as the same colour has the ground of the whole area.

Kasbah Ait-Ben-Haddou

There is no more than a handful people living here now. But even in its heydays there can't have been more than some hundreds. Ait-Ben-Haddou is a village made up of several small fortresses, kasbahs, each stretching some ten metres into the air. The effect of this has attracted movie makers from far away, and films like Lawrence of Arabia was partly shot around here.
Ait-Ben-Ηaddou is one of those places you dream of visiting, different, exotic, and it lets your fantasy flow, when you try to imagine life here before. Still some few families live around the kasbahs, but most have moved away, or into the ordinary settlement on the other side of the river. Ait-Ben-Haddou is most beautiful in the hours before the sun sets, when the Saharan sun lights up the red walls of the kasbahs.

Kasbah Ait-Ben-Ηaddou has qualified from UNESCO as World Heritage Monument.

Geia sou Danos, the famous Kasbah is really rocking today. The contrasts of the ochre tones and that blue, blue sky really make the photo. The depth is good although in the BG could be a bit sharper. Great composition, thanks for sharing, Lisa.

This outstanding architecture is a very photogenic subject! Its ocra color contrasts wonderfully with the deep blue sky and so it has a strong visive impact.

Cet ensemble de forteresses en terre rouge sous un ciel bien bleu fait une excellente image. J'aime aussi le groupe au centre qui donne de la vie à l'ensemble. On y revient à ces constructions de maisons en terre, beaucoup moins chères et plus écologiques, les anciens étaient des sages.

the exaggerated blue of the sky adds somewhat surreal feel to the scene, as if this was a big movie set, like a cardbord cutout :) but having been to Morocco I know that the colours are pretty true, the red soil and blue sky can create most striking contrasts. eh, I really wish I could go back there right now... thanks for this nice reminder of one of my favourite trips.

I did not know you make us go around the world in a week : Greece, Canada and now Morocco. If I had known this I would have taken a bigger suitcase ! ;-)
This shot is the image I have of Morocco : typical Moroccan architecture and with ochre tones. I like the humans presence which give us an idea of the scale.
A good composition with good colors ochre and blue.
Perhaps, vegetation sharpness could have been improved but this feeling is perhaps due to my screen.
I'm ready for the next country Danos ! ;-)

A very special wide angle presentation that gives a very dramatic ad exciting scene. The green palms dates and the browm building works well against each other. The sky makes everything so perfect.
